Colored Curbs
When shopping for rubber parking curbs, there are quite a few choices that have to be made; things like length, quantity, anchoring, and color. Wait – Color? Is color really an option?
When considering concrete curbs as an option, typically the only way to choose the color is to paint them. While this does offer
the option to choose almost any color, you’re then left with the yearly task of painting each and every curb to maintain its appearance. This can be time-consuming and quite costly.
However, rubber parking blocks come in four different colors. Most commonly, customers select what can be referred to as a “standard curb.” These offer a black surface with either a yellow stripe or a white stripe pattern. Also available are a choice of décor colors. First is a blue surface with a white stripe pattern. This of course, is most commonly used to delineate handicap locations. But also available is a Terra-cotta red surface with white stripes. These are most often chosen for use in historic locations when the black surface is a little too harsh for the setting.
The stripes used on rubber curbs are actually baked into the surface, so they’re not going to fade like paint does. Plus, there is glass beading baked in as well. This offers a reflective surface that you just can’t accomplish by painting a concrete curb.
This reflective surface not only makes the rubber curb more appealing aesthetically, but also much safer than a concrete curb. If a concrete curb is not painted, consider how it blends into the surface. And even when it is painted, there’s still no reflective surface, so they’re harder to see. Rubber curbs catch the light in both sunshine and darkness and draw the attention of drivers
and pedestrians to their location.
It’s pretty difficult not to see the advantages of a color rubber parking curb when comparing with a concrete curb. The choice is yours.
