Rubber Speed Bumps For Sale

When purchasing large quantities of rubber speed bumps, there are some key details that you’ll want to know ahead of time.

First, check your pricing.  Many times, large quantities of any products are eligible for special, unadvertised pricing discounts. When obtaining a quote, it’s best to know as much detail about your project as possible so these discounts can be considered up front.

Next is packaging; you may wander why the packaging is important. Well, if you’re having the order shipped to you, you’ll need to make arrangements for the delivery.  So details such as weight & quantity are important.  Also, if you have to store them until the project is ready, you’ll want to know the dimensions as well so you’ll have an area prepared.

Rubber Speed Bumps are typically shipped on a pallet via an LTL (less-than-truckload) or truckload carrier. The maximum number of speed bumps that fit on a 72” x 48” x 36” pallet is (50).  With this quantity, you can fit 3 bumps on one layer, 2 bumps on the next layer, 3 on the next and so on and so forth continued until you reach 50 Speed Bumps per skid.

Transportation is also a key factor.  When you have them shipped to you, normally arrangements for the shipment & transport to your specified location will be made ahead of time.  However you’ll need to know what to do with them once they get there.

Some customers also opt to pick up orders directly at warehouse locations.  While this can normally be arranged, you’ll need to provide a vehicle that is sufficient to accommodate the bumps.  For this reason, it’s best to know ahead of time what you’ll be getting into.  Check for dock availability, or how they will be loaded (by hand or by forklift).  Make sure you have a vehicle that will accommodate the weight and the space they’ll occupy.

Since these bumps are made from recycled tires, each unit weighs 51 lbs, and that gives you a total weight of 2,550 lbs for the product.  If packaged on a skid, the skid itself will weigh about 60 lbs, so the grand total weight will be approximately 2,610 lbs for (1) complete skid of parking lot speed bumps.

Most likely each skid will be secured with metal banding and will be stretch wrapped as well.  This will help hold all the parking lot bumps in place and will make the skid more stable when moving.  Normally, a forklift is used to move the bumps around within the warehouse, and can also be used to load if the vehicle is high enough to meet dock doors.  Once they get to the delivery location, it’s best to have a forklift available to unload as well.  Most standard capacity forklifts will carry 4,000 lbs.  So one skid of rubber speed bumps is no problem for a standard forklift.  It is not recommended to transport double-stacked skids. For one, they will be quite heavy and might be more than your forklift can handle.  And two, for safety reasons, stick with moving a single skid so there’s no chance it could topple over and injure anyone or damage surroundings.  Be sure to check your data plate on the lift truck to determine the maximum load capacity before lifting any pallet or skid.  Also be aware of the Center of Gravity (COG) when handling skids of rubber bumps.

Once the pallet is on a flat surface, pallet jacks can be used to move them around.  However, due to the length and weight, a forklift would be the preferred piece of equipment.  This is especially critical if you are on an outside job site.  Outdoor forklifts work well in that environment and make it much easier to transport and place the Speed Bumps, whether you are working on asphalt or concrete surfaces.

When ordering large quantities of any traffic control product, preparation is the key to a smooth and successful project.  If you have any questions, or need to know any details, be sure to ask ahead of time so you’re prepared.
